| Ms. Jamie L. Kear awarded the American Heart Association Predoctoral Fellowship.
Ms. Jamie L. Kear was recently awarded a two-year American Heart Association Predoctoral Fellowship for her proposal entitled "Characterization of the Reversible Acid-Induced Activation Mechanism of Prorenin Using Site-Directed Spin Labeling and EPR Spectroscopy".
Jamie joined the Chemistry department in Fall 2005 and is a graduate student of Gail E. Fanucci. Previous awards won by Jamie include a Departmental Teaching award and a University of Florida Graduate Student Teaching Award. Jamie is the second student in the Fanucci Lab to successfully receive funding from AHA for a predoctoral Fellowship.
Luis Galiano was also awarded a 2-year AHA predoctoral fellowship in July 2006 for his research proposal entitled "Site-Directed Spin Labeling EPR studies of Conformational Dynamics in the flap region in HIV protease".
