Wagener honored during the annual Humboldt Foundation meeting in Germany
Butler Professor of Polymer Chemistry Dr. Ken Wagener received an Alexander von Humboldt Research Award for U.S. Senior Scientists on March 23rd in Bamberg, Germany. The award, which is provided by the Humboldt Foundation in Bonn, Germany, is based solely on academic excellence. The prize is granted as a lifelong tribute in recognition of past accomplishments in research and teaching, and is designed to foster prolonged periods of research with colleagues in Germany.
Humboldt Research Awards are provided on the basis of nominations by eminent German scholars, since direct applications from outside Germany are not accepted. They are designed to promote scientific cooperation between foreign countries and Germany. Dr. Wagener will begin interactions with the Müllen Research Group at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, starting with investigations in nanoscale nonaqueous emulsion polymerization and a study of structure in precision polymers used in fuel cell membrane applications.
Dr. Wagener is shown here with the president of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Früwald, who presented the award on March 23rd in Bamberg, Germany.
