Congratulations to our Spring BS Graduates!
On Sunday, May 6th, 66 chemistry majors received their bachelor’s degrees, 25 in the standard chemistry program and 41 in the biochemistry track. Four of the new BS chemists wore valedictorian medals for completing all four years at UF with 4.0 averages: John Bradford Hill, who was a double major with Economics, Drew Palmer, Jeffery Wong, a triple major with Economics and Microbiology, and Abu-Bakr Zafar. Hill, Wong, and Zafar were also recognized as Outstanding Four-Year Scholars, and Zafar was named to the CLAS Hall of Fame. Jessica Pfeilsticker, who earned her AA degree at Manatee Community College, was honored as an Outstanding Two-Year Scholar. Andrew Roy, a double major with Music, earned designation as a UF Outstanding Male Leader.
The Department of Chemistry can be proud of the large number of majors who graduated with honors. A total of 48 graduates finished Cum Laude (upper-division GPA’s above 3.5) and of these, 14 wrote research theses to earn Magnum or Summa designations. Special recognition is owed to the 18 graduates whose upper-division GPA’s were above 3.85: Joshua Anderson, Justin Cooper, Karan Desai, Ashley Eville, Caroli Genis, Frank Han, Nicholas Hauser, John Bradford Hill, Zachary Kean, Dubenion Joseph Moss, Drew Palmer, Jessica Pfeilsticker, Allen Pusateri, Odayme Quesada, Nathan Tennyson, Elizabeth Turner, Jeffrey Wong, , and Abu-Bakr Zafar.
Congratulations to all of our outstanding BS graduates! We look forward to hearing great things about your future accomplishments.
