Professor Christou appointed an Honorary Professor at the London Centre for Nanotechnology
Prof George Christou has been appointed as an Honorary Professor at the London Centre for Nanotechnology. The LCN is a joint enterprise between University College London and Imperial College London, and was set up by the UK to solve important challenges in various fields such as information processing, energy, the environment, medicine, and others, by bringing together the necessary expertise in nanoscience and nanotechnology from the underlying disciplines within the physical sciences, engineering and biomedicine. The appointment of Prof Christou follows his growing association with several research groups at the LCN in recent years, particular physics and materials groups interested in magnetic nanomaterials. His research involves the synthesis and characterization of molecules capable of functioning as molecular nanomagnets, and detailed study of their classical and quantum magnetism properties.
The appointment began in October, 2007, and is for an indefinite period.
George Christou is the Drago Professor of Chemistry and has been at UF since the summer of 2001, when he moved to Gainesville from Indiana University, Bloomington. |
