Professor Tan accepts invitation to NIH

University of Florida chemistry professor, Weihong Tan has accepted an invitation to serve as a member of the Enabling Bioanalytical and Biophysical Technologies Study Section, Center for Scientific Review.

Members are selected on the basis of their demonstrated competence and achievement in their scientific discipline as evidened by the quality of research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals, and other significant scientific activities, achievements and honors.

The Center for Scientific Review receives nearly 80,000 applications a year and recruits over 18,000 external experts to review its portion of them in its study sections. For nearly 60 years, this peer review system has enabled NIH to fund cutting-edge research.

Professor Tan has taught at UF since 1996, specializing in bioanalytical chemistry, biomedical engineering and biophysics.

Professor Tan will begin his term on July 1, 2007 and will end in June 30, 2011.
