Chemistry Major Wins National Award
Jennifer K. Mattler, a junior chemistry major, has received the 2008 Gladys Anderson Emerson Scholarship. This $2000 award is sponsored annually by the Iota Sigma Pi National Honor Society for Women in Chemistry. Women chemistry majors from all parts of the United States compete for this honor.
Jennifer has an outstanding academic record here at UF. In addition to excelling in course work, she has been an active member of Dr. Ronald K. Castellano’s research group since January 2007. Jennifer has been synthesizing and characterizing new molecular building blocks for applications in supramolecular chemistry.
She has also participated in summer internships at Argonne National Laboratory and Roche Pharmaceuticals, and this coming summer she will intern at Eli Lilly.
We all join in congratulating Jennifer on receiving the Gladys Anderson Emerson Scholarship, the latest of her many honors and achievements.
