The IT Shop is equipped with a Hewlett-Packard
DesignJet 500PS large-format printer and dedicated computer serving
faculty, staff, and students of the Department of Chemistry.
The DesignJet prints on 24", 36", and 42" wide
roll feed or single sheet fed paper. The IT Shop is currently stocking
and using HP's Basic High Gloss paper in 36" and 42" width. The printer's
1200x600 DPI color output, combined with special-purpose paper produces
high-quality output that is ideal for banners, signs, posters, and displays.
Printing is currently charged at $20
per poster using high gloss 36" or 42" width paper.
The basic process for printing a poster is:
- Prepare your poster using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop,
MS-Powerpoint, or some other supported application.
- Save your file to flash disk (SD,CF,etc), USB flash drive, zip disk, CD,
or the networked file space.
- Fill out the online Printing Signup Form
to schedule a time to come in to the IT Shop to drop off your print file
and coordinate the printing. The IT Shop staff will confirm your reservation
by e-mail reply.
- Visit the IT Shop during the scheduled service time where IT Shop staff
will receive you print file and begin printing your poster.
- After printing, complete the online
Printing Charge Form before you leave the IT Shop so that we can
account for your use and charge the appropriate grant or department
account.
